Ok, Now that I've got a good look at the MFX model and the production drawings I will begin to build my own Sonic based on these.

Here is a 3d of the project.

Next I will have to produce the parts and then assemble them.

I plan on documenting the whole process on this site.

There are few differences from the production sketch to the prop, but it is really cool that you want to do one like the sketch! Swivel head and all?

Once I get into making the parts I will have to decide on swivel or not.

I know the production of the sonic made the swivel too difficult, but I would like to see it attempted for sure!

Swivel/pivots are easy.

Great idea! I think it would be awesome to see that come to life!

Practical question, how would you run the wires to the light will work so they don't show up in the pivot?

I will get one of this joints made up hook up a LED through it!

Ten weeks and most of my nerves in my thumb came back.... just enough to start working on the lathe.

I started with some plastic parts... just to get used to the lathe again.







Off to do some work on the 11th Doctor sonic.
