Okay, I recently got a 1978 world book from a teacher at the school I work part time at.
(here is why she gave it to me, DotMatrix 0179.png )
she replaced it with a 1982 book)
Its leather-bound so i thought what the heck I'm making a river song book out of this.
I painted the book with about 13 layers in different shades of blue so i could carve the squares in. The pages were originally gold edged but I painted them brown and yellow to make them look old and not shiny.

Really nice work Aliza. There's something really special about old paper :)

Yeah... it makes people like me feel young!

And I love that cover! (Not to mention the look of the book.)

Trivia time: my mother used to sell the World Book Encyclopedia back in the early '70s. I don't know if we've still got that first set we got once she started selling them, but the last time I saw them was in the mid '90s and they were still in good shape.

Nice, I've often thought about making a replica of that book.
I held the actual book (or one of the actual books) when a certain Mr Ed Thomas came to do a talk at our university, and brought a few things to show with him, I'll create a new thread in a moment about it. Don't know why I haven't shared this before! Was over a year ago!
