Hello builders,

The tardis builders current reference page for the 2005 Console is a bit messy

So I am going to apply as much time as I can to make this page compress all the facts we know about the real prop
and  alternative methods of re-creating this fantastic set.

In this cut down version of the original I will only import the best bits, showing the highest detail
and most useful information to make it easy to access and...Just um, nice.

Let us start with this pic:


I will use this to show where the bits that I find fit on the console.

wayne venomous has tracked down a possible handbrake used on the prop
here it is for comparison with the real prop.

Its place:

I am not 100 percent sure but a part has been Identified by whovian-almighty as a radiator valve
here it is for comparison.

I have recently re discovered the wallpaper animation for the tardis screen

hehehe, in windows xp you can set your wallpaper to a .swf or .gif and make the animation your background

for Active Desktop
go to:
Display Properties > Desktop Tab > Customize Desktop > Web Tab > Click New Then Browse To Locate .swf Or .gif.

This tardis is the coolest looking "Dogs Breakfast" In my opinion,
however this presents some challenges when It comes to recreation.
See this thing:

It is a deflection coil from a cathode ray tube, I pulled apart a crt to confirm this, Here is a different one for comparison


Update: after speaking with a retired tv repairsman it was found that the deflection coils are from either a small tv or,
it is more likely to be a cro (Cathode Ray Oscilloscope)

The prop its self was ''Dressed" By a company called bobs bits. "Bobs Bits is a specialist supplier of hi-tech & futuristic set dressing and prop dressing components, antique & vintage technology. (They) also have an increasing range of period, contemporary, futuristic & fictional props."

The three section rheostat is a major part of the 2005 console, it seems to be the only thing that has not blown up
or court fire, it has survived the crashes and time (travel) its self.

As far as I know. the rheostat on the console is not commercially available, it was almost certainly built by someone.
But the three hexagonal rheostats that seem to be run in parallel are very old rheostats and also seem to be very hard to track down.
this one is off an old eBay listing...

That 3-section rheostate has quite a few ebay listings today, most about £30.
